Film on postnatal depression – Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival

On Thursday 12 October 2017, at Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA), Sauchiehall Steet, Glasgow, G2 3JD, the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival will be showing a documentary on postnatal depression, and holding a panel discussion after the film. A member of the MMHS Change Agents will be taking part in the panel discussion.

Here’s a description of the film, Cloud Nine:

After her daughter was born, documentary maker Anne-Marieke Graafmans ended up in a postnatal depression. She lost herself and fought against her grief and not loving her baby. The outside world didn’t know about this struggle, only those close to her. The taboo surrounding postnatal depression stopped her from talking about it. To create more attention and understanding for this subject, she decided to make a film about it.

Cloud Nine is a documentary about being in a postnatal depression told from the perspective of four young families. An intimate and candid film about what it’s like to have to deal with this.
