The pledge said “My family are given information and support for themselves and to support me.”
I applaud the funding, I really do. It’s a great start but the current funding structure isn’t enough. It’s not sustainable to give charities and 3rd sector one lump of money. They need the security of ongoing funding.
The money is largely geared towards established charities who have results, accounts and projections but don’t cover huge areas of the country.
Some of these areas don’t have an MBU or access to specialist PMH services either so the lack of peer and 3rd sector support is even more pressing.
If you make a commitment to supporting the establishment of new 3rd sector services then money isn’t enough; mentoring, supervision, networking, administration support, and a proactive commitment to giving all the women of Scotland the same access to services needs to be at the heart.
