Home-Start Glasgow North AGM – Nov 2016

And what a celebration it was…

To those who joined us, thank you. I’m sure you will agree it was a great party. Not everyone could make it so we decided to share some of our celebration with you.

We had a really lovely afternoon with wonderful insights from families and volunteers as well as songs from our amazing Home-Start choir.

Bob Doris, the MSP for Maryhill and Springburn, who has always been a great advocate of our work spoke about his belief in what we do as well as the reception he is due to host at the Scottish Parliament later this month in support of our proposal to start a Dad’s Group.

Kaye Adams hosted the event and explained her passion for Home-Starts work. “Home-Start Glasgow North is a fabulous asset, offering effective solutions for building communities, building relationships, and helping individuals to grow. The staff and volunteers put the families at the centre of everything they do, and I’m delighted to support them.”

We heard from Liz McNeill, one of our fantastic volunteers, who has supported several families, summing up her feeling about Home-Start in one word ‘Great!’. Zainab, Mum to 6 children, spoke movingly about her Home-Start support: ‘When I first had a volunteer… I barely had the confidence to leave the house… I would say now that I am 100%! Home-Start supported me and what I got from them, I would now like to give back.’

We rounded off the AGM by cutting our beautiful 15th birthday cake and everyone moved through to enjoy a vintage afternoon tea.

There was much to celebrate and be grateful for as well as to look forward to in the years ahead.
