Job Opportunity – Participation Officer *Deadline Extended – Friday 16th July 2021*

Maternal Mental Health Scotland are looking to appoint a second Participation Officer. The post holder will support the Scottish Government’s Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Programme Board in engaging with and listening to the views of women, partners and family members who have been affected by perinatal and infant mental health issues, on how services can be developed in Scotland.

This second participation officer post for Maternal Mental Health Scotland will work with the Infant Mental Health Implementation and Advisory Group to consider models of participation which centre on the voice of the infant and promote positive infant mental health within the context of their wider environment. Additionally, the post holder will make contact and seek the views of marginalised groups This will involve working in partnership with the Equalities Sub Group which reports to the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Programme Board. The post holder will be employed by Maternal Mental Health Scotland and will work alongside an existing Participation Officer post. The post holder will also work closely with Maternal Mental Health Alliance.

Candidates for this post should demonstrate an understanding of the importance of the parent-infant relationship. You should also understand issues faced by people who have been affected by mental illness during the perinatal period and the ways in which this can impact on infant development. You will need to be familiar with community development approaches and have a strong commitment to the users voice. You will also need to demonstrate a capacity to work on your own initiative.

This post will include travel across Scotland and occasional evening work. There will be flexibility in how the hours are worked. The post holder will work from home.

£12,000 p.a. 14 hours per week

This post is funded for a period of 12 months.
