Aims & Objectives

LATNEM aim to promote and protect the mental health of women, birthing people and their families by providing a free, comprehensive peer support service, which is a safe, judgement free space to seek support with their mental health when they need it

LATNEM’s objectives are:

  • To provide a free, easily accessible forum for support with no need for referral, no waiting list or complex booking.
  • To provide appropriate emotional and practical support, information
    and advice to women and birthing people who are suffering with mental ill health.
  • To provide a service that is culturally appropriate ensuring that people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, and LGBTQ+ communities are supported with their mental health.
  • To enable the families of people with mental health problems to support them, by providing support and free resources such as books for children which explain mental health and what their parent may be going through, and books for the families of those living with maternal mental ill health about how to support them and look after themselves too.
